Dental implants are a method of providing fixed teeth to an area of the mouth where teeth have been lost.
It is essentially a substitute for a natural root and commonly cylinder shaped. Each implant is placed into a socket carefully shaped at the precise location of the intended tooth and is then rotated in to place. The implant then bonds very quickly to the bone surface creating stability. Once the implant is fitted a crown or bridge is attached to support your replacement tooth/teeth. It is possible to support up to 10 teeth using multiple implants. Treatment usually takes place over a 10 week period and excellent temporary restorations mean that you can have the gap filled immediately.
In 2006, after 17 years of general and cosmetic dentistry, Craig commenced a year’s extensive hospital based training in implantology. He has now undertaken many successful cases and some patients have described their implant treatment as a life changing experience.
Craig is a member of the Association of Dental Implantology (UK) and for many years has been a full member and examiner with the Royal College of Surgeons (FGDP).
Craig lectures widely throughout the UK. He and Martine Lewis, his implant nurse coordinator teach on the national Straumann dental implant programme.
