What is a Dental Implant?
Dental implants are a method of providing beautiful fixed teeth to an area of the mouth where teeth have been lost.
A dental implant is essentially a substitute for a natural root and is commonly cylinder shaped. Each implant is placed into a socket carefully shaped at the precise location of the intended tooth and is then rotated in to place. The dental implant then bonds very quickly to the bone surface creating stability. Once the implant is fitted a crown or bridge is attached to support your replacement tooth/teeth. It is possible to support up to 10 teeth using multiple dental implants. Treatment usually takes place over a 10 week period and excellent temporary restorations mean that you can have the gap filled immediately.
